The RFU is becoming aware of an increasing number of onfield disciplinary cases where the Police are involved and an investigation is instigated.

This office keeps a record of these investigations (8 current) but know that this is not a complete picture. Some cases though not all are known to the CB Disciplinary Secretary through the issue of a red card or a citing being initiated.

It is important that the RFU are made aware at the earliest opportunity where there is known Police involvement and in this regard I would urge you to remind your Clubs of the need to report such details through the CB to this office as soon as it is known. Experience has shown that we, the RFU are able to make contact with the relevant forces and initiate a dialogue which speeds up the investigation and hopefully resolves the case one way or the other. Hence the sooner we know the better for all.

It is also important that we are made aware of decisions made at Court involving players for onfield disciplinary issues or where the good name of Rugby is impugned by the nature of the offence.

Also note this refers to U18 rugby as well as adults.
